Inter Miami Dominates Houston Dynamo 4-1 in MLS Showdown Despite Messi’s Absence

**Inter Miami Cruises to 4-1 Victory Over Houston Dynamo Despite Messi’s Absence**

Even without Lionel Messi, Inter Miami delivered a dominant performance on Sunday, securing a convincing 4-1 win against the Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer (MLS). Telasco Segovia stole the show with a brace, while Luis Suarez and Tadeo Allende also contributed to the scoreline, showcasing Miami’s depth and attacking prowess.

Messi, who was rested by coach Javier Mascherano after a busy start to the season, missed the match, disappointing fans in Houston who had hoped to see the Argentine legend in action. As a gesture of goodwill, the Dynamo offered free tickets to another game this season, but their defensive struggles on the field left little to cheer about.

Miami took control early, capitalizing on Houston’s mistakes. Benjamin Cremaschi intercepted a pass in the 12th minute, setting up Suarez, who expertly assisted Segovia for the opening goal. Houston responded with sustained possession but were caught on the break in the 37th minute, as Allende finished a swift counterattack with a powerful left-footed strike.

Segovia struck again just before halftime, completing his double after a brilliant team move. Yannick Bright won the ball in midfield, drove forward, and found Suarez, who set up Segovia to calmly slot home.

After the break, Houston thought they had pulled one back through Ezequiel Ponce, but his header was ruled offside. Miami continued to dominate, and Suarez added a fourth in the 79th minute with a trademark powerful finish after outmuscling his markers.

Nicolas Lodeiro’s late goal offered some consolation for Houston, but Miami’s victory was never in doubt. The only blemish for Miami came after the final whistle, as defender Ian Fray received a red card for an off-the-ball incident.

The win reinforced Inter Miami’s status as a strong contender in the Eastern Conference, building on their record-breaking Supporters’ Shield-winning campaign last year. Suarez, speaking to Apple TV, emphasized the team’s determination to improve after last season’s playoff disappointment.

In other MLS action, defending champions Los Angeles Galaxy suffered their second consecutive defeat, falling 2-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Sam Adekugbe opened the scoring for Vancouver, with Gabriel Pec equalizing for the Galaxy. However, Brian White’s late header sealed the win for the Whitecaps, leaving the Galaxy still searching for their first points of the season.

Inter Miami’s performance without Messi highlighted their depth and quality, signaling their intent to challenge for the MLS title this year. Fans will eagerly await Messi’s return, but for now, the team has proven they can thrive even in his absence.
